How a Portable Wash Bay Works
Unlike a standalone containment mat, a portable wash bay can be configured with ramps, wheel tracks, spray curtains and a screened transfer pump to suit the vehicles, site and wash-water pathway. Where a pump is specified, captured water is collected from the mat’s lowest point and transferred to a suitable holding, treatment or reuse system.
Relocatable containment for changing sites
Configured for transport yards, fleet depots, construction projects and mobile operations, these systems provide relocatable containment and water transfer where flexibility is required. Standard and custom configurations are available, with Australia-wide supply and straightforward installation on a suitable prepared surface.

- Vehicle Wash Mat
Heavy-duty drive-over wash mats designed to contain wash water, sediment and contaminants on temporary or remote worksites. - Bund walls & spill containment
Heavy-duty, collapsible bunding forms the wash area boundary and isolates wash water from surrounding surfaces and stormwater runoff. - Ramp and wheel-track access
HD wheel tracks are recommended for vehicle use to protect the mat. LV ramps may suit standard passenger and light vehicles; larger vehicles should be specified with HD ramps. Typical HD wheel tracks use durable repurposed rubber conveyor belting approximately 900–1000 mm wide and 10 mm thick, positioned to suit the vehicle track. Provide the vehicle details so the complete access arrangement can be confirmed. - Configured pump and water transfer
A screened 12 V pump and hose kit can be configured where captured water must be moved to nearby holding, treatment or reuse equipment. The detailed pump specification and site requirements are set out below. - Holding, treatment and diversion
Downstream storage, separation, filtration, diversion or reuse is specified for the site. Holding tanks are normally sourced locally to avoid unnecessary freight volume. - Spray curtains & containment accessories

Wash Mat Construction and Material Selection
Portable wash mats are manufactured from PVC or HD PVC with a premium foam-edge bunded perimeter. Heavy and super-heavy-duty configurations are selected according to the vehicles, traffic, prepared surface and intended service.
Material suitability depends on what the wash water may contain. Tell us about any fuels, oils, detergents or chemicals and provide the current Safety Data Sheet where relevant. Trade Enviro will confirm the mat construction and compatibility for the proposed exposure before supply.
Wash Water Management
Portable wash bays are used as part of controlled washdown setups where wash water is captured and managed rather than allowed to enter surrounding stormwater. The way wash water is handled typically depends on whether sewer discharge is proposed as part of site operations.
Sites with sewer discharge
Where sewer discharge is proposed, portable wash bays are commonly used alongside treatment components such as oil–water separators to remove hydrocarbons and sediment prior to discharge.
These systems are typically supplied with product documentation used during trade waste assessment.
Sites without sewer discharge

Pump & Water Transfer
Portable wash bays are commonly configured with the TE12VHD 12 V transfer pump where captured water needs to be moved to a nearby holding, treatment or reuse system. Pump and hose requirements are confirmed in the quote. The pump requires a suitable customer-supplied 12 V power source, and transfer performance depends on the vertical lift and total hose run.

Is the pump included with every portable wash bay?
